Sweetcorn Growing Notes

Sowing

Sow under glass for protection against frosts. Plant out in early summer. Use 'block planting' for the best results and the plants compete for the sun light. Plant 2.5cm deep and 30cm apart.

Pruning & Thining

Keep weed free.

Harvesting

When the hairs on the top of the cobs have turned brown it is ready to harvest the cobs. Test the nibblets by squeezing them, if a milky liquid is released they are ripe and ready to eat. If it is clear they are not. Pick and eat fresh.
