Courgettes, when small can be eaten cold in salads, warm with a garlic butter, or even the male flowers can stuffed and cooked (southern France recipe). When the Marrows develop, they can be stuffed with a mince and rice mixture, or just cut into slices and roasted. A versatile summer vegetable.

Soil Type: Any Soil

Aspect: South-facing

Light: Partial shade

Hardiness: Not Hardy

Moisture: Well-drained

pH: Neutral (6.6 - 7.3)



Marrow And Courgette Growing Notes


Plant under glass in late spring, and transplant from pots after they have been hardened off. Plant at a depth of 4cm. Check seed packets for distances between rows.

Pruning & Thining

If planting seed in the ground in the early summer remove the weaker plants. Keep weed free.


Harvest as and when required.
