Swedes are a member of the brassica family even though they are root crops. They are very similar to Turnips, but they do tend to be sweeter in flavour.

Swede Growing Notes


Sow 1cm deep in rows 32cm apart in soil with plaenty of organic matter. For crop rottion treat as cabbages and other Brassicas

Pruning & Thining

Thin as required


Pick when large enough to eat. Can be left in the ground or picked and stored in a dark cool place.
