Or Italian sprouting Broccoli. This is the leafy vegetable seen in supermarkets and referred to as 'Broccoli'. Broccoli is a summer vegetable with a short growing season, where as Calabrese has a much longer season.

Calabrese Growing Notes


Unlike Broccoli Calabrese does not transplant well, so it should be sown directly into warm soil. Group seeds in threes and 25-30cm apart. Protect young seedlings with netting to reduce bird attacks

Thin seedlings to one strong plant


Cut the heads before the flowers form or the plant will not produce any more.
