Allium cepa

Onions Description
Onions can be many shapes, colours and sizes. Round or oval, white, brown or red. Depending on the variety they can be planted from Spring to Autumn. For best results keep the onions clear of weeds.
Sow seeds under glass in midwinter. Then move to a cold frame to harden off. In warmer weather plant the onions directly into the soil. Sow them thinly at 1cm depth.
Plant out Onion sets in rows 10cm apart and 25cm between the rows.
Harvest onions as and when required. If you are going to store the onions make sure they have been dried out before placing in cool dark storage.
